The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) offers two main types of examinations for students: Public Examinations and On-Demand Examinations. Here is a brief explanation of each:
1. Public Examinations
Frequency: Conducted twice a year (April-May and October-November).
Procedure:
- Registration: Students need to register for the exam online through the NIOS portal within the specified registration period.
- Admit Card: Once registered, students can download their admit cards from the NIOS website a few weeks before the exam.
- Examination: The exams are held at designated centers across the country. Students must appear at the assigned center on the specified date and time mentioned in the admit card.
- Results: Results are usually declared within 6-8 weeks after the last exam date and can be checked online on the NIOS website.
2. On-Demand Examinations (ODE)
Frequency: Available throughout the year, allowing students to choose their exam dates.
Procedure:
- Registration: Students can register for the ODE online through the NIOS portal, selecting their preferred date and time slot for the exam.
- Admit Card: After registration, students can download their admit card from the NIOS website.
- Examination: Exams are conducted at specific NIOS study centers equipped for ODE. Students appear for the exam on the selected date and time.
